Final touches

Just taking one last look at how things are shaping up in the office design.

With a collaborative effort with fellow sim residents Kathrine Bayard and Laura Rhys, we brought our designs down, and removed the floating effect as the building looked out of balance with a large top. We decided to create a floor at ground level as a meeting space, to help link our projects together.

We have also created a fire place on this ground floor with chimney penetrating right through our design emitting smoke as particles at the top.

Here is a media wall that residents can read the journals on this large digital screen.

My favorite view that I have framed in my design is the mountain in the distance. When I Lowered my whole office this view was slightly blocked by other projects, therefore I made a semi transparent alpha channel texture which concentrated on the view of the mountain only.

Here there are a few changes in my information media center with a addition of a direct link to my blog on the large interactive panel on the wall which allows observers to scroll through the blog without exciting Second life. I have also retained the link to the web address on the marked sign below.

What is happening at Hermanator Banx's Office

Here is another up-date on the progress made on the office design.

Taking a look from a distance at the office, this office is now designed the look like it is going against the rules of gravity only supported on thin columns.

The rising particles also make it look that the Office is floating on the cloud of particles. This creates an interesting contrast to the historical orientated design of the office in making something that is not practical in the second life setting.

Looking into the front of the office, not observing much changes apart from a few fine tuning and some material changes.

Having a look at the spiced up storage / display center sporting the display stall which holds a copy of the latest of the three journals this office is interested in. The shelf to the left holding other copies of the journals.

There is also a interactive panel that is situated above the display stall the links to further information on the office, to the Hermanator Sketch Book Blog.

This here is a look at the side of my office to which my outside deck is located. This how the curved ramp links the two offices together through the deck. The deck can also be used to observe the architecture going on around it and for relaxing in the sunshine.

Interactive Design

This picture here shows a second life resident taking a seat at meeting table and reading the current Architectura magazine, turning the pages with the touch of the book.

Open Deck

Hey again,

Here we take a look at the deck attached to my office.

The raised deck provides the perfect elevation of view over the designs around the office, overlooking the ocean in the distance, while drinking a cup of coffee and reading a book or magazine over the outdoor table.

To the right in the bottom a ramp can be seen which provides access to the office of Katherine Bayard above.

Progress up-date

Here is just an up-date just to show how my office is shaping up

Taking a look into the office from the front, showing the work station in front, information station to the left and meeting desk behind.

Here is a view of the back of the office showing the information center taking good form. This will be used to display the most current version of the magazines and other information.

Textures

Here are some of my textures I created to link in with my journals, through an historical look.

This here is a stone wall texture I have created, with a traditional circular window in it created with an alpha channel. I have used this to create an ancient architectural feel

The back wall here is created from the journal New Market Cityscope. As Cityscope is a recording of all the known data of a particular time, this information often quickly becomes out of date and incorrect, therefore through the alpha channels and the overlaying of different pages I have torn up contents of the journal.

Taking a Look at Journals

Just taking a look at the Journals assigned to me so that I can relate these to my Office design.

Journals:

'Architectura'

'Fabrications'

'New Market Cityscope'

The journal Architectura is a German journal that studies the history of architecture, going right back into ancient architecture such as the Roman arenas, etc

Fabrications is a journal that into the society of architectural historians throughout Australia and New Zealand. This is mainly concerned with Architecture is say the last 200 years.

New Market Cityscope is an organised document that records all the properties within New Market. This records the type of buildings, materials, when they were built, its use and the owners for each site.

From looking above these journals, architectural history has been covered in two of my journals being Architectura and Fabrications, also New Market Cityscope is interested in documenting the history of each site to a finer degree.

We can see that all my journals are kind of related. From this i can see that in order to link my journals it would be a good idea the reference architectural history into my design.
